  • Newsletter week ending 18th December 2015

    Thank you – to all the children who sang at the Carol Concert on Tuesday. It was a wonderful evening. We had some lovely feedback from parents and children. We were most grateful that the children managed to take most of the ‘snow’ home with them!!

     

    ParentPay – your child has had an activation letter for you this week. Please activate an account over the Christmas holidays so that we can start to use the new system as soon as possible. Please ask in the office if you need any help. New trip payments will be requested for payment or consent via this system from January 2016. The Young Voices payments, Beech Class swimming, the Gangsta Granny Theatre trip and River & Rowing trip will all still need paying for via the office, as so many are already partially paid for.

    Christmas running club – Pete Sudbury (Joshua’s dad in Hornbeam) has offered to continue the morning running club in the village green on the following dates: Monday 21st, Wednesday 23rd, Monday 29th, Wednesday 30th December, Friday 1st January!! and Monday 4th January.

    It is an 8.30am. Please note that parents are welcome to join in or watch but children cannot be left unattended. Thank you to Dr Sudbury for his dedication!

     

    We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. See you all back for a new term on Tuesday 5th January 2016.

    Thank you – and well done to all the staff and children, who worked very hard to produce their wonderful Nativity performances over the last week. We had fantastic feedback from parents and family. A ‘Thank you’ to FOWPS as well for providing the refreshments after the performances.

     

    Aspens Christmas Meal – Wednesday 16th December – all orders should be done by today – 11thDecember 2015. Any orders made after this date should be done via Amanda at Langtree Aspens Canteen to check if the order can be taken.     Key Stage 2 Carols – Tuesday 15th December – 7pm in the school hall. Parents are invited to come along and hear the children sing a variety of carols and Christmas Songs. There will be standing room only and with the necessary attention being paid to the fire safety regulations, this will restrict numbers to approximately 2 to 3 people per family being able to come along. Children need to be back in school for 6.30pm for preparations. FOWPS will be selling refreshments, mulled wine and minced pies, after the performance. They will also be selling Woodcote Primary School fabric carrier bags – £1.00 each. Please note that parking may be difficult as Langtree have an event on the same evening.

     

    Swimming Lessons – from January to March 2016, Beech, Rowan and Ash Classes have swimming lessons. Lessons will be starting on the first week back in January. Please return your completed permission slips (and payment for Beech Class) to the school office by the next Friday 18th December.

     

    ParentPay – today your child should be bringing home a letter regarding the introduction of ParentPay. Please let the office know if you don’t receive it.

     

    Race for Life – Well done to those Woodcote children who took part in the first Goring and Streatley Race for Life in November. A fantastic £953.76 was raised! There will be more opportunities for young runners at the Goring 10K on Sunday 13th March 2016 and the Hairy Legs on Sunday 8th May.

    End of termDress Down day – Friday 18th December. School will finish at 1pm. Please note that there will be no After School Club. If your children wish to come to school in home clothes please bring in £1.00 donation to their class teacher for FOWPS. It is an optional event.

    Nativity – Hornbeam and Beech Classes will be performing their Nativity, ‘The Christmas Recipe’, on Tuesday 8th December at 2pm and on Wednesday 9th December at 6pm. There will be a Dress Rehearsal for the whole school, Cabin Pre-School & Woodcote Pre-School on Monday 7thDecember at 2pm. Doors will open at 1.45pm for parents on Tuesday and at 5.45pm on Wednesday evening. There will be a collection afterwards with monies raised going to help purchase further resources for school productions.

     

    Arts & Crafts – on Friday 11th December Foundation, Year 1 & Year 2 will be opening their doors to parents for a morning of glitter and glue – making Christmas decorations. Parents are welcome to join in from 9.15am – 10.30am.

    Christmas Fayre – a huge thank you to all the staff, parents and children who helped out before, during and afterwards to create a successful evening. These events cannot take place without all your help. Details will follow with the amount raised.

     

    Disco – tonight at 5.30pm – 6.30pm for Key Stage 1. Key Stage 2 – 6.30pm – 7.30pm £3.00 per child

    You will be asked to sign your child in, and stay with them if they are under 5 years old.

    We hope to have enough helpers but it would be much appreciated if you could check to see if your help is required.

  • Art and Craft Morning

    Oak, Hornbeam and Beech would like to invite parents to join them in some Christmas craft fun on Friday 11th December. We will be opening the doors of our classroom and the lids on our glitter pots to enjoy a morning of crafting, cooking and art actvities to bring a sparkle to our preparations for Christmas.  We would be delighted if you could join us with a helping hand and a willingness to get messy, gluey or floury, making Christmas decorations and treats. Parents are welcome to come and join us from 9.15am – 10.30am.

    Here it is at last – performance week!  We are looking forward to the KS1 nativity play: A Christmas Recipe, with all of its glorious festive ingredients.

     

    We know it will be fantastic as we have followed a recipe for success and used some very special essential ingredients of our own!

    So make sure you have your tickets ready as we look forward to seeing you – our enthusiastic audience – on Tuesday at 2pm and Wednesday at 6pm to complete our best recipe yet!
