KS2 Production –  Well done to all the KS2 children for their performances in ‘The Snow Queen’.  We had two very good performances from children who had worked extremely hard in rehearsals over the last few weeks.  It was great, once again, to see the confidence of children on stage and to see Year 3 to 6 children performing together.  Thank you to all the parents and families who came to watch the performance.

A big thank you must also go to the staff who helped to put the production together, but in particular, to Mrs Lecorgne who produced and directed it.  Once again another successful production for the school!

The collection after the performances raised £109.24 which will be put towards stage lighting.

Thank you – We are very grateful to Mike Hill from Woodcote Garden Centre for providing the lovely Christmas Tree for our school entrance hall.  Thank you very much.

Whoops a Daisy Angel – We had two fantastic performances of ‘Whoops a Daisy Angel’ this week from Oak, Hornbeam and Beech classes.  Once again the children made us smile with their delightful and often charming performances, and the confidence on the stage was great to see.  All the children enjoyed performing and did a great job.

Well done particularly to the solo singers, Holly Bassett, Teddy Norris and Tori Van Heerden.  Well done too, to the lead character, Daisy Packer, who performed brilliantly as Whoops a Daisy Angel.

A big thank you must go to Miss Burrell and the KS1 team of teachers and teaching assistants for putting the play together and organising costume and props.  Also a special thank you to Sandra Farmer who worked really hard making costumes and also helped behind the scenes on both days.  A big thank you too, to the parents for coming along and supporting the children.

We are delighted to say that the collection after the performance on Wednesday and the dress rehearsal on Tuesday raised over £260 which will be put added to our ‘new minibus’ fund.

KS2 Production – All tickets have now been sold and given out for the two performances on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th December. If anyone has tickets for either evening which will not be used, please could these be returned to the school office as soon as possible as we have a waiting list for tickets.

Please be aware that Langtree also have productions on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings so parking will be difficult.  We would advise that those who are able to do so walk to the school if at all possible.

Children in the choir do not need to arrive in school until 6.30pm but need to wear a white T shirt or polo shirt and dark school trousers.

Children in the cast need to be in at 6pm if lots of make-up required or 6.00 – 6.15pm if not much make-up.

Parents are invited to arrive at 6.30pm when FOWPS will be offering refreshments, before the performance begins at 7pm.  Please be reminded that this is a ticketed only event and numbers are restricted due to fire safety precautions.  There will be no additional standing room.

After both performances a collection will be taken with the proceeds being used to help cover the cost of staging equipment.

Arrival at School – Can I please remind everyone that the side gate to the school playground opens at 8.30am but there will not be a member of staff on duty in the playground until 8.40am so parents are responsible for their children until then.  Children then line up in their class groups and are taken into their classes at 8.50am.  There is no access to the classrooms until then unless it is raining or very poor weather when parents and children are given access to the school at 8.40am.

Emergency Closures – In the event of bad weather any closure or late opening will be announced on the radio by 8.00am, earlier if possible (BBC Radio Oxford and Heart FM Oxfordshire) and will appear on their websites.

Thank you to FOWPS – Once again the FOWPS committee have demonstrated how important they are to supporting the school and raising funds to benefit all our pupils.  I would like to thank the FOWPS committee for all the hours of work that went into planning and organising the Christmas Fayre this year.  They raised an amazing £1890, all of which will be used to enhance the educational experiences of our pupils.  In the past, funds have been used to pay for classroom and playground resources, as well as subsidising school trips.  One of their great successes was raising funds for one of our much needed school minibuses.  We have so many more class trips as a result, which children really enjoy.  The FOWPS committee are now very close to one of their longer term targets, replacing the older minibus.  This again would be a great achievement.  So a big, big thank you to all the FOWPS members for their hard work and fantastic support for the school.  It is greatly appreciated.

KS2 Production – This will be held on the evenings of Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19thDecember. Please note that our decision to open or close is not dependent on what Langtree do.  Our circumstances are quite different in terms of staffing, numbers of pupils and transport.  However, if Langtree close, we would ask that your child brings a packed lunch.  If you are unable to do this we will provide your child with soup and bread.

If we do open during adverse weather conditions and your child is booked into After School Club, you should check with the school to see whether this is running as normal.

CHRISTMAS  DINNER  MENU – WEDNESDAY 12TH DECEMBER 2012
    – Cost £2.00

Reminder – Christmas Dinners need to be pre-ordered by next Monday 3rd December
either  online or by letting us know in the school office.

KS2 Production – This will be held on the evenings of Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19thDecember and we are still looking for a parent who would consider filming the production on either of these evenings so that we may sell copies to parents.  If so, could you please contact Mrs Lecorgne in Willow class.

Team Point Badges – As part of our whole school reward system, children receive badges for achieving 100, 200 and 300 team points over the year.  Last year we tried using sew on badges, with bronze for 100 points, silver for 200 points and gold for 300 points.  This was successful to a certain degree but to make this system more successful this year, starting this term, we will use pin on badges for bronze and silver.  We will continue with gold sew on badges as we still have plenty of these and children can continue to display them on their sweatshirts the following year.
We would ask at the end of the year that bronze and silver pin on badges be returned to the school, as these are costly and we hope to re-use them the following year.  Many children have proudly worn the badges last year and we hope children will continue to wear the new pin on badges with pride.

Packed Lunches – Please can I ask that your child brings a spoon in their packed lunch box if they have yoghurt or similar to eat as we are unable to supply spoons for everyone.

Poppy Appeal – The amount raised through the school for the Poppy Appeal this year was £36.26.

School Admission Appeal Panels – Do you like to make a difference? Are you a decision maker? Have you got the odd day to spare? Yes? People like you are needed to sit on school appeal panels! So, if you are interested in taking an active part in schools admissions and exclusions please contact 01865 810180 or write to: Education Apeals Officer, County Hall, New Road, Oxford 0X1 1ND or email: schoolappeals@oxfordshire.gov.uk   This should be done by Monday 10th December.
