Habitats Trip to Wytham - 24th April 2015

Year 4 visited Wytham Woods this week. We were so lucky with the weather, although it was chilly under the canopy of leaves. We were shown one of the many badger setts in the woods, and told some grisly facts about badger diets. Ask your children for more details!

We learnt that the oldest tree in the woods is 2200 years old, and worked out the age of a hornbeam (tree, not child) by measuring around the trunk.

After lunch, we looked at carp farming, pigs, sheep and for those brave enough, stroked the bulls. All this work will follow through our topic on Habitats during this term.
