It will involve some trimming, weeding, planting and clearing of paths. If you would be able to help please let the office know. We would be very grateful for your support. The more the merrier!!

Yr 2 Open Afternoon – parents of Beech Class children are reminded of their African Story Telling Afternoon on Tuesday 3rd May from 1.30 – 3pm.

Yr 3 Open Afternoon – parents of Ash Class children should have received their invitations to the open afternoon for Thursday 5th May from 1.30 – 3pm. It is a chance to come & have a look around at what the children have been doing. Tea, coffee & cake will be on sale from 2.30pm.

Yr 1 & Yr 4 Open Afternoon – All parents of children in years 1 and 4 are invited to join us for an ‘Open Afternoon’ Tuesday 10th May from 1-3pm. The children and teachers would love to have you in class with them; Year 4 will be covering Buddhism in R.E. and Science while Year 1 will be doing Gymnastics followed by a lesson on this term’s topic ‘Out and About’. Tea and coffee will be available.

Star Wars Theme – Aspens would like to invite children to wear a ‘Star Wars’ themed hat at lunch time on Wednesday 4th May.

Aspens are promoting ‘May the force be with you’!! The children can make hats over the long weekend & bring them in on Wednesday to wear at lunchtime if they wish. Please make sure it is possible to eat your lunch whilst wearing your themed hat!!

Aspens Menu Change – on Thursday 19th & Friday 20th May Aspens have swapped the menu so that Fish Fingers & Chunky Chips will be on the menu for Thursday not Friday. The swap is only for these dates. Please check your orders have been changed if necessary. Aspens have also asked that parents check with their children whether they have enjoyed the meal ordered for them. With the new summer term menu from Aspens, we have found a lot of children have not liked the meals ordered for them and therefore eat very little.

Music lessons – after several enquiries about violin lessons, there is now a link that interested parents can access to enrol their children onto the Oxfordshire County Music Service. For more information about the lessons available please use this link – www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/musicinterest

Student Support Centre – the school has been approached by the Student Support Centre (a student tuition programme) to raise awareness of the service they can provide to children. Whilst the school does not endorse the requirement for any children to take up the service, we have agreed to distribute their information on Monday 25th April via the classrooms. The school will directly benefit from parents returning the reply slips, even if it is that you are not interested in their service. They will gift the school 30 free dictionaries if over 65 families return their reply slips and an additional 30 Thesauruses if more than half of families respond. Please look out for their envelopes on Monday. Thank you.

  • Auction Of Promises raises a fantastic amount for the school!

    Mon 18 Apr 2016

On Friday the 15 of April, FOWPS organised an Auction of Promises at the school.

This is the first time we’ve hosted this type of fundraiser and were thrilled by the response by local businesses and community members. A huge variety of promises were offered ranging from cakes to brewery tours, family days out, portrait drawing, vouchers, meals out, chocolate hampers, discos, signed shirts, tools, plants, West Berkshire Brewery Beer, extra lessons, babysitting , dog grooming, furniture painting, knife sharpening, logs, car services and MOT, Pilates sessions, boiler service, electrician’s labour, tractor rides, homework help, massage, swimming sessions, jams, Ella’s kitchen goodies, round of golf, domestic cleaning, photographic sessions, jewellery, books, canoe trip, helicopter ride and various other gifts.

With around 50 people in attendance, each with their specially made bidding paddles, the fun started. Keith Masdin, our auctioneer and grandpa to one of the children in Hornbeam class, had us laughing and engaged in the merriment of the evening within minutes. Some fierce bidding took place for the more coveted and unusual items much to the amusement of all!

The FOWPS committee provided a table of nibbles and soft drinks and also did the bidding on behalf of those who were unable to attend and had sent in sealed bids.

By 10pm, all the lots were sold raising a staggering £3501 for the school.

    We Raised £3501

A big thank you to the FOWPS team who organised it all, to those who so generously donated their gifts and talents and to the Masdin and Homer family for running the auction so smoothly. We’ve had lots of positive comments from many who attended and hope to make this a regular feature of our fundraising efforts for our school.

If you missed out this time, we hope to see you at the next!
