Book Club

Book Club for years 5 and 6 meets every week to discuss a book we are all reading.

Any child can sign up and school will buy the book for them.  We love reading, so owning a new book to discuss should not get in the way of the amazing discussions we have.

It is sometimes really hard to stop reading at the agreed page and have to wait for Book Club before we can move on.   "Oh....I wonder what will happen next....." we hear discussed around school "I can't wait for Book Club! I want to read on!!!"

We are currently reading........

This book was tremendously exciting.  We couldn't wait to move on to the next bit each week!  Really and truly a great read for Book Club!

"I thought the book was the best book I've read yet. I liked the intriguing blurb and how JJ and Penny find some sell shocking surprises.  I would recommend this book to anyone, especially murder mystery lovers.  I like all of the book.  There was nothing I do not like because of all the cliff-hangers and surprises!"  Mollie, yr 5.

Daughter of the Deep

by Rick Riordan

34 Children read this book and they all loved it!  It was mysterious and yet held lots of adventure.  At least 3 Ana Dakkar's were present in school for World Book Day! It follows the bloodline of Captain Nemo in a fight for truth and peace.  A real page turner, especially if you like all things underwater!

The Violet Veil Mysteries - A case of Grave Danger

by Sophie Cleverely

"The Violet Veil Mysteries are a series of books written by Sophie Cleverely.  The first book is 'A Case of Grave Danger'.  It is about a girl named Violet who wants to become her father's apprentice at Veil and Son's undertakers but no one takes a girl seriously.  One evening Violet finds a blond boy wandering round the grave yard but last time she saw him, he was waiting to be buried!

We really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for 7+.  It's great if you like murder mysteries and is fun to read as there are name twists and turns." - Georgia and Abi

Running on the Roof of the World

by Jess Butterworth

I like this book because it is very touching and really teaches you about what life is really about.  It shows you that it's not all bout fun and games because within that joy is sadness, sacrifice, love and friendship.  It's all about how to care for others and not put yourself first." - Year 6
