Welcome to the Woodcote Primary School Governing Body
The school governors have a varied and important role helping the school run effectively. Our three core functions:
The governor role is strategic rather than operational. Governors are not involved with the day to day running of the school, instead supporting and challenging the school’s leadership team as a ‘critical friend’ to drive school improvement.
Our governing body consists of four parent governors, five co-opted governors, one staff governor, one local authority governor and the head teacher. Parent and staff representatives are elected to the governing body whereas co-opted governors are recruited by the governing body. Oxfordshire Local Authority appoints our LA governor. We also have associate members who are invited to a committee of the governing board for their specific skills and expertise. Associate Members do not have voting rights on the board.
The Full Governing Body meets three times a year, with three further strategy meetings during the school year. There are also four sub committees which meet termly. These sub committees are:
Committee Terms of Reference
In addition, we have three special committees (Academy, Complaints and Confidential) that are convened when needed.
The full details of the Governance structure and committee membership can be found in the attached.
