Newsletter 13 July 2012

Athletics – Well done to our Year 3 and 5 pupils who took part in an outdoor athletics competition in Abingdon on Monday.

All the children competed in the 600m, 75m sprint, throw and long jump events finally finishing with the relay.  All the children competed well and enjoyed the event.  Well done to Ebonie French, Gemma Botham, Milly Coleman, Megan Cole, Katie McDowell, Chloe Page, Guy Furlonger,

Luka Metolli, Ben Dowman, Archie Kennedy, George Olliver, Tommy Edwards, Leo Metolli, Peter Mason, Henry Buckland, Alex Ostridge, Max Temple, Molly Cole, Charlotte Mansfield, Bryony Furlonger,
Maddy Warren, Lucy Ball, Charlotte Packer and Dawson Powell.

Olympic Torch – Thank you very much to Mr. McAuslin for arranging for a member of the Metropolitan Police to bring in an Olympic torch to show everyone in the school.  This was most unexpected but thoroughly appreciated by all the staff and children in the school.

New Front Entrance – From Monday next week work will begin on the new front entrance which will mean that access to the school office will be restricted.  Could I please ask that anything such as dinner money (in clearly marked envelopes) or permission slips be handed into your child’s class and they will then be transferred to the office.  If you really need to speak to office staff when you bring your child to school in the morning please come through the door by Maple class or contact us by telephone.  It is hoped that the work will be finished when we return to school in September.

Website – At the top of this newsletter is the address of our school website.  Each week the newsletter is added and also other information such as term dates, school dinner menu etc.  We hope you will find this useful.

Asthma medication – Could I please ask parents of children with asthma to ensure that their child has an inhaler in school at all times and that the medication is clearly marked with their name.  We also require a form (available in the school office) to be completed to inform us of their requirements.  Inhalers need to be brought into school to their new class in September together with the completed form.

After School Club – The After School Club Annual General Meeting will be held in the school hall on Tuesday 11th September 2012 at

6.30pm.  All welcome.

Bicycles – If your child brings a bicycle to school these must be taken home at the end of the day, if they are left on the school site then this is at parents own risk.

Nestlé Box Tops – This year we raised £94.30 which has bought us 34 books to use.  Thank you to everyone who has brought in cereal tokens, please keep saving them in the collection box in the school hall.

End of Term – Term ends next Friday 20th July at the earlier time of 1pm.
