Newsletter 12 October 2012

Cross Country – Last week we took a team of Year 3 to Year 6 pupils to Langtree to take part in an inter-schools cross country event.

Children ran in teams and there were some great individual performances. We certainly have some talented long distance runners. Well done to Christopher Lobb, Niamh Rasmussen, Chloe Page, Milly Coleman, Archie Clark, Tom Gordon, Katie McDowell, Archie Kennedy, Andrew Carr, David Carr, Jack Botham, Josh Palmer, Lucy Ball, Amy Allen, Astrid Tozer and Bryony Furlonger.

Parent Interviews – Lists are still in the school hall for you to sign up for an appointment with your child’s teacher for the parent interviews being held during the week beginning 15th October for children in Years 1-6.

Piano Lessons – Please note that the piano lessons due to take place on Wednesday 24th October will now be on Thursday 25th October because of the KS2 science trip which will take place on the Wednesday.

Knitting Club – We are delighted that so many children have joined our Knitting Club run by Mrs Bodeker but we have now run out of knitting needles. Can we please ask that if you have any of Mrs Bodeker’s needles at home from last term which are not being used for the knitting club this term, that these be returned so they can be used by other children.

Also, if anyone has spare needles (preferably short ones) that could be donated to the school please can these be brought in to the school office. We have plenty of wool at present so do not need donations of wool.

Year 6 transfer to Secondary School – A reminder to parents of Year 6 children that the deadline for applications for transfer to secondary school is 31st October. This can be done online at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/admissions

Cheque Payments – A reminder please that all cheque payments for school dinners or school trips should be made payable to ‘Oxfordshire County Council’. The only cheques that should be payable to Woodcote Primary School are payments for school uniform.

Dolce Christmas card competition – With this newsletter you will receive a leaflet inviting children to take part in this competition. Please bring your entries to the school office (not to the school cook as shown on the leaflet) by the 26th October (half term).. There will be some great prizes for the winner of the competition and the winning school.

Lost Property – We have some items in our lost property box including a Little Miss umbrella, a pink fleece and a pair of wellies (size 12). Please ask in the school office if you think any of this belongs to your child. After the end of next week everything will be disposed of.

Half Term – The October holiday is Monday 29th October until Friday 2nd November and there is also an

Inset Day on Monday 5th November so children will not return until Tuesday 6th November.
