Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Ukulele club has been hard at work over the last few weeks putting together a little something for our recent music sharing assembly in school. We thought we'd film a version for you all to enjoy! Check it on the Dance, Drama and Music page.
Following on from the earlier news, Satna was able to get airborne today and fly the presents over to the John Radcliffe Hospital. He looped past us on his way and gave us a spectacular wave. It was so exciting!
Today, we were proud to hand over a huge box and multiple bags containing presents donated by our parents for children in hospital over Christmas.
These will be flown to The John Radcliffe Hospital, with Santa, in a helicopter from RAF Benson on Wednesday.
It was lovely to meet Flt. Lt Chris Northcote when he came to collect the presents to hand over to Santa.
Our annual school service of remembrance was held today at 11.00am. Every class had made their wreaths of poppies and written prayers to those who have fought or are currently fighting in wars around the world. We were joined by Reverend Benskin who held the 2 minutes silence. Year 6 recited 'In Flander's Fields' and read the names of the soldiers from Woodcote.
It was a very moving time.
After a beautiful Harvest Festival in St Leonard's Church, we delivered our annual Harvest Boxes to our friends in Woodcote.
By now we’re sure you’ve all heard about our amazing PE teacher from Kick-Off, Felix Clements. He’s been taking part in Britain’s Got Talent this year, accompanied by some of our children. Check out some videos of his performances at the link below:
All of the children should be very proud of their outstanding performances in The Magical Christmas Box. It was wonderful to see all of the children from Oak, Hornbeam and Beech working together and supporting each other. The children all worked hard to learn songs, their lines and roles over the term. The songs and singing were lively and full of enthusiasm. As well as making sure that we learnt about Christmas traditions, their origins and the story of the first Christmas, the play gave us lots of opportunities for fun and laughter together.
This week, the entire school were surprised by some special visitors on the playground as we welcomed a variety of vehicles, old and new. Our visitors included three 1920s vintage cars, a 1970s MG, a Tesla, two Triumph motorbikes and two tractors.
There are a few photos below, but if you’re interested please check out some of the class pages, in particular Beech Class who organised the event. We were very grateful to the vehicle owners who were generous with their time, knowledge and access to their vehicles.
Year 2 completed their year with a special trip to Mapledurham after being invited to participate in the annual swan upping on the Thames by Mr David Barber, the Queen’s Royal Swan Marker. They enjoyed a picnic lunch and then were excited to see the skiffs arrive and to be able to meet Mr Barber and his team and hear about the swans and how to protect them. Mr Barber was impressed with their knowledge of pens, cobs and cygnets.
They received a special certificate from Buckingham Palace and presented Mr Barber and his team with a beautifully illustrated poetry book and some special pictures. What a super way to end the academic year!
