July 2026

This final term, we have had some very hot spells of weather, but have been helped to cool down by putting our feet in our book trays filled with water, and some ice pops and chilled fruit treats on the hottest days. 

We have continued our prehistory topic by learning more about the Bronze and Iron Age, finishing the term with a visit to Ufon Court for a Stone Age to Iron Age Day. See our Photo gallery for more ideas of what we got up to. 

And in Science, we have been learning about Rocks, Soil and Fossils and have enjoyed sharing our gem and fossil collections - so many experts in Ash class! We wish you all a very happy summer as we near the end of term. 

May 2026

The start of the summer term brought some sunshine and a new history topic - Stone Age to Iron Age. We created a human timeline to see just how long the Stone Age lasted and had a hunter-gatherer scavenger hunt. We created our own adverts for woolly mammoth trousers, based on our English book Ug and some narrative writing using a second class book, The First Drawing. In Art,  we created our own Cueva de las Manos style handprints and explored natural cave art paints using turmeric, charcoal, chalk, berries and mud. 

We also started our ten week swimming block, as part of our P.E. sessions on Tuesday afternoons. 

March 2026

The Spring term has been a busy one for Ash Class, with a trip to the Ashmolean museum before half term to complete our learning on Ancient Egypt, World Book Day in March and our Year 3/4 Production of Grimm just before Easter. We have been learning about European countries as part of our Geography topic in Term 4 and Light and Darkness for our Science topic this term. 

January 2026

Ash class have loved learning about Ancient Egyptians this term as part of our History topic. Head over to the photo gallery to see some of our activities. We also had some great costumes for Careers Day and enjoyed listening to our visitors talk about their work. Thank you to all the volunteers for sharing so many interesting ideas about the world of work. In addition, we have been learning about Epiphany in France as part of our French lessons, alongside our new topic 'Les Animaux'. 

December 2025

Over the Autumn term we have studied Rivers, with a focus on the River Thames, and then the River Nile. We have added photos of this term's Geography and Science learning to our Photo Gallery and will add more updates shortly.  Earlier in the term, we celebrated a whole school Day of European Languages and shared the languages spoken across our class community.
