Children are eligible to start Reception in the September following their fourth birthday. Places at Woodcote Primary School are allocated by Oxfordshire County Council's Admissions team according to the school's published admissions criteria.

As an Oxfordshire maintained school, admission applications are made through Oxfordshire County Council's Admissions department.

The national closing date for Reception applications is typically 15 January each year, with offers made on National Offer Day (16 April). We strongly encourage you to apply by the deadline to be considered in the first round of allocations.

However, please do contact the school to check availability of places and to arrange to come in for a chat with the Headteacher, meet the staff and have a tour of our school.

Starting School- What to Expect

We understand that starting school is a big step for both children and families. Our staff work hard to make the transition as smooth and welcoming as possible. New Reception children are invited to take part in a programme of settling-in visits before the end of the summer term, giving them the chance to get to know their classroom, their teacher, and some of their new classmates before September.
