In Year Admissions
Moving to the Area or Changing Schools?
If you are looking for a place at Woodcote Primary School outside of the normal admissions round, perhaps because your family has recently moved into the area, or because you are considering a move from another school, we would love to hear from you.
How In-Year Transfers Work
In-year applications are for children of primary school age (Reception to Year 6) who need a school place at any point during the academic year, rather than at the usual September start. The process is slightly different from the main admissions round, but we will do our best to guide you through it.
All in-year applications for Oxfordshire maintained schools are coordinated by Oxfordshire County Council's Admissions team. To apply, you will need to complete an in-year application form, which is available through the OCC website or by calling the admissions team directly.
- Apply online: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/public-site/starting-school
- Phone: 0345 241 2487
Once your application has been processed, you will be notified of the outcome by the local authority. If a place is available at Woodcote, we will be in touch to arrange a start date and to help your child settle in as smoothly as possible.
Please Contact Us First
Before submitting a formal application, we always recommend getting in touch with the school directly. We can let you know whether places are currently available in the relevant year group, answer any questions you may have, and arrange for you to come in for a look around. We know that changing schools can feel daunting for children and parents alike, and we want to make the process as stress-free as we can.

Settling In
We take great care to make sure every new child feels welcome from day one. When your child joins us mid-year, we will take time to get to know them, introduce them to their new classmates, and ensure their teacher is aware of any particular needs or interests. We find that children settle in quickly when they feel seen and supported and that is exactly what we aim to provide.
If you have any questions about in-year transfers that are not answered here, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to help.
