Newsletter 27 February 2015

World Book Week – a variety of events are planned for next week as part of World Book Week:

Monday 2nd March – the children, in their school teams, will create a display based on a chosen book.

Eagles – The Gruffalo, Kestrels – Jolly Postman, Owls – The Stickman, Hawks – Robin Hood, Red Kites – Lion at Bedtime.
Tuesday 3rd March – there will be ‘reading buddy sessions’, where the older children will read to the younger classes.

Wednesday 4th March – Parents and Grandparents are invited into school to share their favourite books or stories with the children. We would like to encourage as many parents/grandparents as possible to come along and read with the children, from 2.15pm on Wednesday. Please let us know if you or your children’s Grandparents are able to come along to this event. See the slip below.

Thursday 5th March – Bedtime Stories in pyjamas at school between 6.15pm- 7.15pm. Parents are invited to bring along their children for a bedtime story with their class teacher. Refreshments will be available in the Chalet for parents during this event.

Friday 6th March – children are invited to dress up as a character from a book. Please remember to bring your book to school to show the class.

Please note that your children should be bringing home a World Book Day token today. They are valid against books purchased from 2nd March to 29th March 2015.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers – we are collecting these again this year. The collection box is in the Foyer or you could post them through the letter box in an envelope.

Travelling Book Fair – thank you to all the children/parents who purchased books from the Fair. As a result, we have been given £215.31 to spend on books on the Travelling Books website.

Craft Club – unfortunately there was not enough interest in the After School Craft Club for the organiser to set it up. However, she will be coming in next Friday to show the children in Years 1 – 5, what kind of activities are available at the club. The children will bring home a leaflet with details on, after the workshop. This will happen before the end of the school day on Friday 6th March.

Please let us know if parents or Grandparents could come in and share stories/read with the children on Wednesday 4th March. Please complete this slip and return it to the school office.
