Woodcote Primary School

Governor Profiles

Liz Hunt – Headteacher

I am privileged to be Headteacher of such a wonderful school and, whilst I love being a teacher, I also enjoy being a mum: I have two lovely daughters who are both now at University. I have a variety of pets whom I enjoy spending time with. They give me a good excuse to be out of doors enjoying the fresh air and countryside. I have recently taken up running to raise money for charity and completed my first Marathon in the Autumn of 2020! I am planning to run the London Marathon in April 2023 to raise money for Brain Research. Enjoying a new challenge, I have decided now is the time to pick up my O-Level French once again. I am, once more, taking lessons in the hope that I will visit France with confident language skills in the near future.

Helen Harvey – Chair and Health & Safety / Safeguarding

Co-opted Governor

I'm a mother of 4 children who all attend Woodcote Primary School. Prior to becoming a full time Mum, I worked for JP Morgan Chase Bank as a Relationship Manager responsible for large institutional pension clients. When I do get a minute to myself, I enjoy walking the dog, reading, sewing and making things.

Anna Bartlett – Vice Chair and Major Projects

Parent Governor

I am currently vice chair and have responsibility for Finance and also chair the Finance and Premises Committee. As an elected parent governor (my son is currently in year 6 and my other son will start in 2019), I am committed to ensuring that the School continues to provide an inspiring environment where the children are at the centre of all the decisions, are happy, secure and thrive and where they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

I am passionate about creativity in learning and will champion this within Woodcote. I fully support the school in its desire to achieve educational excellence.

My background in Investment Banking provides me with a strong financial and analytical skillset and having also worked in Leadership and Development and on change management projects, I hope to provide support to the senior leadership team in terms of the school’s strategy.

Diana Hadaway – Community and Early Years

Co-opted Governor

I have been a Governor of Woodcote Primary School since 2006. At that time I was a member of Woodcote Parish Council. I taught as a qualified teacher in a number of Primary I have a real interest in education at that level.

Helen John – GDPR

Co-opted Governor

I moved to Woodcote with my husband in 2016 before the birth of our eldest son who is now in reception. He will be joined at the school by his little brother in 2022.

I am a family solicitor based in Wallingford. I have been working in this role for 20 years in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire but settled in Oxfordshire in 2012. I was born and brought up near Swindon with two teacher and governor parents and have always been interested in education and working with children. I joined the governing board in January 2018.

When not working or baking at home I can be spotted running in Woodcote (although probably not as often as I should!)

Andrew Hawley – Finance

Parent Governor

I bring a skill set from a business and finance perspective from my role working as a tax and business advisor for a number of chartered accountants both locally and in London. I grew up down the road in Caversham Park Village where I attended the local primary school and went on to Chiltern Edge and then Henley College. I went on to study Business Studies at the University of the West of England.

I now live in Woodcote with my wife and children. My daughter Emily is in Key Stage One here at Woodcote Primary and my eldest son Ben goes to Langtree having previously attended the school. My other son James also attended Woodcote Primary but sadly lost his fight with a congenital heart condition in late 2018. I note that James is very much my inspiration in everything we do.

In my spare time I enjoy playing golf and football when I can. You may also see my, on occasion, running around the village in an attempt to stay fit, and I am also an avid Spurs supporter.

When not being active, I enjoy watching movies, drawing, finding and playing less well-known board games, as well as spending time with my family and friends.

My favourite places in the world include Fiji, Australia, and Cornwall, and my favourite food is Thai, Chinese or a good steak accompanied by a glass of good red wine or a beer!

Martin Towers – SEN

Parent Governor

I have lived in Oxfordshire most of my life having been brought up in a village just on the edge of Oxford. My career post university has been working mainly in the public sector starting in a regional tourist board, then working for a training & business development organisation and now for the Department for Education.

I live in Woodcote with my wife and have two children - both children have been educated at Woodcote primary school, the eldest leaving last July to join Langtree with the youngest now in year 1. I joined the governing body in September 2020 as a parent governor. I hope that my experience of working in the education sector and of being a parent will enable me to make a positive contribution to the running of Woodcote primary school and to its longer-term ambitions.

Phil White – Buildings and Maintenance

Parent Governor

I am a parent of two young children one of which attends Woodcote Primary School, and the other attends Woodcote Pre School. I am the 3rd Generation of my family to live in South Stoke, my Grandfather moved here in the 1930’s and a member of my family has been present here ever since. My 9-5 work is as an Electrical Technical Manager at NG Bailey, one of the largest Mechanical and Electrical contractors in the country. I joined when leaving school at 16 and have been there ever since (some 26 years ago). Outside of work I try to support the local community as much as I can, and I am a Parish Councillor on the South Stoke Parish Council. I am looking forward to supporting Woodcote Primary as a Governor in any way I can.

Helen Coyne – Clerk to Governors

I have been Clerking at Woodcote Primary for several years and enjoy working with the team of Governors and Mrs Hunt.

I am a Company Director in my full-time role and work at home. I live with my husband, two children, a dog, a cat, two guinea pigs and loan a horse too, so I keep rather busy. You will often see me running when I have a spare hour or two.
