What do we do?
FOWPS runs a number of fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for school equipment, trips and one off projects. Some of the regular events run by FOWPS are the termly school discos, the Summer and Christmas Fayres, Coffee Shops run quarterly from the Community Centre, Quiz nights and supporting the Woodcote Rally by manning the baby changing tent at the site. FOWPS also supports School events, providing refreshments for the KS2 Christmas Productions and recently, the School Art Exhibition.
We are always in need of extra help for these events as the Committee cannot do everything. If you are able to help in any way, from baking cakes to giving up a couple of hours to help set up or run stalls, please speak to one of the Committee or leave your name in the school office and we will contact you.
We will specifically need extra help supervising at the school discos from September onwards. The last few discos have been a bit chaotic, with some children’s behaviour spoiling it for others. As a result, we will be running separate discos for KS1 and KS2. This means we will need to run six discos during the academic year instead of the three currently. We need between 6-8 helpers to set up and run each disco and this cannot be done by the Committee alone. Again, please offer your help so that we can keep the discos running.
In addition to regular fundraising events, FOWPS has held a number of one-off events to raise money towards special projects. Over 50 Mums (and a few frisky bullocks!) took part in the ‘Ladies’ Pub Walk’ in May. It was a glorious evening, a chance to chat, walk, eat and drink and we managed to raise money towards the lovely planters at the front of the school.
We will be doing another walk on Friday 9th September and forms will be going up in classrooms soon. Tickets are £8 each, which will include a buffet supper, so dust off your walking boots, sign up before the end of term and come along!
Finally, we would like to thank all those who have helped at FOWPS events over the past few months. Since February, your support has helped us to provide the following for the school:
Enjoy the summer!
