Supporting Your Child at Home

Mead Primary: Nursery Newsletter Autumn 2 Week 5

Starting school is a big step for any child, and they can find it very tiring.  For this reason, the only homework we set is to share books together daily and read their phonics books to you at least three times a week to build fluency and comprehension.  Children who do not read at home find the phonics and writing sessions in school much harder and this impacts their resilience and confidence.  If you are struggling to read with them at home, please come and talk to us so we can find a solution.

To support in the other areas of learning, there are ideas in the attached document, but essentially any time you can spend talking and playing with your child, indoors and outdoors, is incredibly valuable to their emotional well-being and their learning progress.
