Homework is given out regularly on a Thursday and is due back the following Tuesday. We will not send homework out in Term 1 to allow the children to settle into their new class. However, we expect to send homework out from the beginning of Term 2. The children will bring home a homework folder each week with an accompanying letter explaining the homework as well as a space for the parent/child to provide feedback.

Homework will consist of one learning task and a spelling activity linked to the focus words we have been learning in phonics that week. 

Please ensure that a sensible amount of time is spent on homework and that it does not become overly burdensome for you or your child. Approximately 20–30 minutes should be sufficient.  If the task is not completed in this time, do not feel obliged to struggle on (although I appreciate that some children who are enjoying the task may wish to continue until completion).  

Please remember that homework also includes regular reading.  Reading should be for 20 minutes a night and includes filling in the Reading Journal.
