Expectations

Year 1 is an important year in Primary Education where we start laying the foundations for all the learning that is to come. We aim to make learning fun and meaningful to help children develop a love of learning. We have high expectations of all the children regarding their learning, school work and behaviour. There is a heavy emphasis on making good choices and being part of a team.

Independence

In Year 1, we will be supporting the children to take responsibility for their learning. As well as structured lessons, there will be opportunities for the children to conduct their own independent learning. This is a time for them to explore the world around them without adult intrusion and experiment with a range of different activities, both inside and out. Adults will add some enhancements to help learning progress and to create additional challenges for the children.

Please come and speak to us if you have any worries or want to know anything about the way the curriculum works.  If you are unable to get to school please phone the office and leave a message and I will return your call.

Below, you will find links to our current curriculum for this academic year and the End of Year Expectations for Reading Writing and Maths.
