Marvellous Marble runs
This week the children have spent their afternoons designing, creating and evaluating their own marble runs. On Tuesday we thought about all the skills that we have learnt so far this term. This included skills essential for building a marble run, including creating towers, bridges and funnels. Following this, we then started our design process; identifying a target audience and creating design criteria.
After that, we drew 2 different designs that we thought were achievable and, after discussing with our partners, decided which one would be best to create.
On Wednesday we built our designs, recalling the skills/techniques we had learnt as well as ensuring that the design criteria were being met. After building the marble runs was the big test, dropping the marbles in. Inevitably, some of the marble runs then needed some 'tinker time' until they were all working successfully.
On Thursday we took some time to evaluate our designs. What worked well and what could have worked bett
